Do you consider yourself lost? I doubt it. Most of you will say that you know exactly where you are geographically and situationally in life. Many of you would agree that you also know where you've been and even where you are going. Here at GPB Ministries, we say that we are "looking for lost people..." But perhaps you don't feel "lost"! The person who doesn't seem to be lost would see no reason to become found. But what if someone could explain to you how that you may indeed be lost?
I'm sure there have been times in every one's life when we felt lost because we were in unfamiliar territory while driving, or while walking through the woods or in an unknown neighborhood. But did you ever consider that you may be lost....spiritually? God's Word tells us that "We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way" (Isaiah 53:6). We have gone "astray" (in other words, we have become lost) because we have each sinned against God by doing things our own way, instead of doing things His way. We think we can get ahead by doing good things or by grabbing more things for ourselves. But the Bible says "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?" (Mark 8:36). Again, we see the word "lose". How can we lose our soul? It's because the Heavenly Father created us as eternal beings. We were meant to live forever until the fall of man when Adam and Eve first disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden. Because of their sin, and our sins, we can no longer enjoy uninhibited fellowship with God the Father. But here's the good news! Jesus made a way for us to be in fellowship with God and also to live with him eternally through His death on the cross and His resurrection and victory over death and the grave!
Jesus Christ himself said that "the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost" (Luke 19:10). Are you spiritually and eternally lost? Then Jesus is seeking you! He came to save you from eternal death. "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23). Our God is actively seeking a love relationship with you because He wants to save you from the penalty of your own sin and invite you into His eternal kingdom! Why not stop running from God today and run toward Him? It is in His hands that you will truly find yourself!
